Our history

Le Virginie, a neighborhood brasserie since 1948.

The Virginie restaurant already set the rhythm of daily life back then.

Who doesn’t know this historic spot?

Ask the locals, and they’ll share beautiful memories of this Riquier restaurant that has evolved over the years and remains at the heart of this vibrant neighborhood…

From the days of tobacco with the lovely Liliane, to the seafood stand with Marco, to the bricklayers having their coffee at 5:30 in the morning before work, to its former name “Le Terminus” and its jukeboxes. Some had their first drink here with friends, others shared their first pizza as a couple or even proposed here. There were neighborhood carnivals, and for some, they’ll tell you, “Yes, I used to come with my grandparents when I was little.”

Today, it’s the Monday dinner gathering for motorcyclists, the Thursday night musical roda for the local youth, the Sunday family lunch, the coffee before catching the train to Monaco, and the quick business lunch with the chef’s special suggestion…

A family-run restaurant passed down through generations, Le Virginie has been welcoming guests for many years and will continue to do so for many more. It’s a big family that grows larger every day.
The seafood stall from the past has been moved to our restaurant Espuma in Villefranche-sur-Mer, where you can take away and enjoy our quality products, both in winter and summer.
